Green, Greener, Green Energy 3000

How Green Energy 3000 is improving the process of analyzing potential project sites with enhanced site analysis.

Who is Green Energy 3000?

With over two decades of experience in the solar industry and over 65 projects under its belt, Green Energy 3000 has an impressive portfolio of over 350 MW across multiple segments, including wind and solar farms, hybrid battery storage, and agricultural PV projects.

The company excels not only in building these projects but also in envisioning, financing, and maintaining them, ensuring each venture is both high-quality and sustainable.

At the heart of Green Energy 3000 is a team comprising around 80 people, that embodies innovation and courage in exploring new avenues in renewable energy. This forward-thinking approach is reflected in its global presence.

Headquartered in Leipzig, Germany, the company has branches and projects in France, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Driven by ambition and an impressive portfolio, Green Energy 3000 was determined to enhance its operational workflow. The team started to look for a more efficient way to analyze potential project sites. Faced with the complexity of GIS tools and the inconsistent availability of data across Germany's regions, they wanted to streamline decision-making and overcome the hassle of time-consuming analyses that were hampering its efficiency.

Ambitious Goals, Ambitious Solutions

With their vision set so high, it also meant turning challenges into opportunities. Excelling at prospecting and with a good list of potential sites, the team recognized the need for a more efficient approach to project development challenges and bottlenecks:

  1. GIS skill challenge
Having to manage a large portfolio of projects, the team faced a challenge in efficiently handling site selection and analysis. The company has a capable GIS team consisting of 5 team members. A major challenge was the complexity of GIS tools, which made it difficult for other project development team members without GIS skills to select and analyze potential sites efficiently and with confidence.
  2. German data challenges
The availability of data varies from state to state in Germany, making the workflow inconsistent and difficult. This hindered even quick preliminary analyses.
  3. Time factor
Carrying out analyses took far too long, requiring a disproportionate allocation of resources and delaying project decisions.

The Goal: To optimize processes for greater overall efficiency

Green Energy 3000 set out to improve their project development processes and tackle the challenges they encountered. They aimed to make collaboration smoother, enhance data access, and increase efficiency.

Hitting the Mark: Glint Solar and Green Energy 3000

It was a matter of finding a tool that would fit seamlessly into their workflow and enhance their capabilities in renewable energy project development.

Green Energy 3000 decided to go with Glint Solar, selecting our software to boost their workflow and enhance efficiency in their solar development projects. Following a software demo and a successful trial phase, they quickly decided to implement our solution to optimize their operations.

The adoption of Glint Solar's software targeted some key areas for improvement:

Challenges faced by Green Energy 3000

Complex GIS tools difficult for non-GIS experts, impacting site selection across various regions
Inconsistent GIS data across German states, complicating site analysis and decision-making processes
Inefficient data handling and management leading to delays in project development
Time-consuming creation of 3D models for stakeholders, slowing down project evaluations and communication

Glint Solar’s solutions

User-friendly platform simplifying data access for project managers across multiple countries and regions
Centralized platform for data import and access, offering a comprehensive dataset for multiple German federal states
Streamlined data management with simplified layer handling, enhancing efficiency in project development
Rapid generation of 3D models for quicker preliminary project evaluations and effective stakeholder communication

Anticipated Gains From Using Glint Solar

Green Energy 3000's use of the Glint Solar software is expected to streamline collaboration and decision-making.

Making workflows more economical and efficient by streamlining processes.

"Thanks to the user-friendly operation of Glint Solar, all colleagues from all departments can easily carry out basic potential analyses. Glint Solar is also the preferred tool for analysts and cartographers due to the continuous updating of data and the integration of new topics.

"With Glint Solar, we can easily and quickly define potential and restriction areas and focus on realizable projects. K.O. criteria for projects become visible very quickly, so we have a much shorter processing time and can filter out potential projects more quickly."

Polina Milanova, Team Leader Spatial Planning and Site Analysis Germany at Green Energy 3000

User Accessibility

All project managers can effectively operate the software, and have all of the necessary data at hand.

"As GIS analysts supporting project development in different regions of Germany, we're used to searching for geodata for each new project. With Glint Solar, however, the data is readily available and seamlessly integrated, saving us valuable time and effort.

Tanja Kutz, GIS analyst at Green Energy 3000

3D Model Creation

Green Energy 3000 can now create 3D models with a few clicks, available to landowners and authorities for initial statements on the project.

Looking Forward: A Sustainable Partnership

Green Energy 3000 started using Glint Solar in 2024. Solar project development takes time. While we're still measuring the specific results, we're already seeing significant improvements in Green Energy 3000's workflow.

At Glint Solar, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of support to Green Energy 3000. Our commitment to responsiveness and collaboration ensures that their feedback is quickly implemented, fostering ongoing improvement.

"We at Green Energy 3000 are very grateful for Glint Solar's openness and the opportunity to provide feedback, which is then quickly implemented."

Meet Polina Milanova and her colleague from Green Energy 3000, who have been using Glint Solar from the very beginning.

"Prior to using Glint Solar, our analysts and cartographers had to review each project approach for permitting feasibility, which resulted in resources being allocated to unfeasible projects. Now they are only entrusted with realizable projects, which increases the motivation and enjoyment of the work as well as the efficiency of the project pipeline."
